Ellie, my one-year lab, and I live in Dallas. My wife and I have owned six labs over our 31 years of marriage. Our first lab, Lady, was a great hunting companion. The others were lap dogs. Ellie appears to be the smartest of all six and picks up training/hunting retrieving very easily. Additionally, my wife and I have three children, all in their 20s, which is why we decided to do this puppy thing all over again.
