Merlin got away today and he ran away for a while he normally comes back but this time he didn't so I went and look for him around the neighborhood. He was spotted in the beach chasing another dog but when we got him he was limping on front leg. I massage the area and try to identify if he is hurt but he seems to be ok. He doesn't pull his legs when I'm massaging it. I tried putting pressure to see the hurt area but he seems fine. He stands ok but he is careful to put pressure on the left front leg. There is no bite marks either. Should I try the wait and see approach and see tomorrow if it still the same.? I'm just worried really. Thanks

See what happens when you let your dog run free? You are very lucky he didn't get run over by a lorry.
Is there any swelling? Can you tell what part of the leg/foot is injured? Have you looked at the pads on the feet and in between the toes for any injury?
Nothing replaces a visit to a qualified veterinarian for piece of mind....

hi Kurt
I've checked him thoroughly but the was no swelling nor any bite mark. i did noticed that his pads were a little red other than that his fine.today he seems to walk fine but on occasion he wouldn't put weight on it. sill no swelling. I've checked him again and gave him a massaged. I'll see how he goes for couple of days and take him to vet if necessary.

He probably wore the pads down on his feet from all the running he did. If he'd fine now, I'd just watch him for the weekend and see how he does on Monday.

Check between the pads. It's happened twice w my lab & both times at the beach. He had small cuts or scratches between the pads & it's an area very easily infected. I treated it w Bacitracin & hydrogen peroxcide(to clean the area). Hope all's O.K.

You may want to try Bruno SJ's method but after the hydrogen peroxide rinse & clean use some Neosporin. Neosporin has a pain killer in it.

What's the current status of your lab?
