I am baby-sitting my parents dogs for the month of Feb and Sabra the black lab started puking like crazy today.
It appears to all be dog food, but I am not sure how much she has in her. the piles this morning were quite large and when I left at 11:15 until my husband got home at 5:30 she had pucked another 8 times. There seems to be a white blob in a couple of the piles, they have a baked potatoe texture to them, but I am unsure what they are.

I am very worried about her as this is very unusual for her.

any suggestions?

Has her condition worsened or improved since last night?

she was sick again at 4 this morning but it was basically liquid with a bit of food. She had a cup of rice this morning and ate it up super fast. When I left the house this morning at 11:30 all was good so I will have to wait until my husband comes home at 5:30 to see how she is.
I spoke with the vet and she gave me a couple of solutions but we will have to wait until hubby gets home to see how she is. the vet is thinking she might have an obstruction in her intestine or lower bowel and this is why she is throwing up.

Oh my gosh!
That can be very serious.

Please keep us updated as to her condition.

Ok so the end to this story is too typical of Sabra. We finally figured out what she ate to make her sooo sick. A bar of soap that was on the soap holder thing in the tub. She loves baths so this is no surprise that she would have gone after it, this also explains the white blobs in the piles of puke.
I am soo relieved that this is all it was, she has been fine ever since the last 4 am wake-up and she has had 2 cups of her normal food today with some rice so I think we are on the mend.

Thanks for all your concern though.

We're glad Sabra is ok!! I've never heard of Lab eating soap!! That's a first!! Make sure you get everything off your counter tops and floor that Sabra can get into!!! If you think there's no way Sabra can get into---think again!!! FYI----beware of the garbage---That's a Lab favorite feeding grounds!!!

so glad she doesn't have an obstruction!

Soap huh? LOL
Good thing it didn't make her gassy.
You would have had a walking bubble machine!

Oh my this brings back memories! Our labs have never eatten soap but we had a Golden Retriever that ate a whole bar of (Dove) soap one time. It must have been the pretty pink color that attracted her to it is all I can think of, I will never forget she was puking bubbles for about 2 days. I just don't understand how they could get past that taste. She was fine but never went after another bar of soap after that!
