Hello Anne!

I'm only a few miles up the coast in Northumberland. This is a great site, which has just gone through a re-hash and become bigger - so you might read some 'what's happened' messages as you trawl though.

There are some fine people and lovely labs here from all over the world, and you'll find that you're in good company.
It's not primarily a super serious site with KC rules and standards being quoted and adhered to, but you'll receive a friendly ear for anything you want to raise, and you'll get pretty good advice on any subject you have issues with.

Or you can just chat away about your (and our) pups and post and view pictures of them!

Oh, and my daughter Lynn and son in law John are members too - they live in North Shields!

Hi Anne,

The pictures look fine. The gallery is one area that Admin are busy trying to improve to make things a bit easier. You can't delete pics at the minute, but you can edit and replace one pic with a different one.

You can put pics into messages and Songb (Karen M) has posted a message explaining how. Follow this link to see the instructions. (Which should open in a new window. Scroll down until you get to the instructions which have screenshots of how to use 'the green tree!')

http://www.blacklabr...howtopic=34&hl=

You can add a thumbnail as an attachment, but apparently that uses too much memory, so avoid that for the mo.

Your pic has to be in the gallery first and then you copy and paste the URL to attach the pic. A bit complex at the mo, but Karen's instructions are good.

Did you say you live in Newcastle and go for walks in Northumberland - bet you've been to Druridge!?

Regards,

Ian

Hello all, I'm Christy from Ft lauderdale, Fl. In attempts to understand Jack Nipple, the black lab beloved to my fiance I have come to read up on labs and found this community. Jack is nearly 3(in Jan) and while friendly beyond most animals I've met is going to give me prematurely gray hair. Hopefully someone will have some advice as to keeping the dog happy in a small condo with a small yard, and maybe advice on how much a healthy/happy dog sheds?

Welcome Christy

We are glad to have you join us. This is a great community to get to know about Labs.

I have two and have potty trained them both this year. I think I do have a few more gray hairs, but I plan on going for some Loreal color this week end. rolleyes.gif

Being that you live in wonderful worm Florida (unlike me in Kalamazoo Michigan...hay it got to 50 today)
I do not think he will shed much. Usually it happens in areas that have more of a climate change. You might want to get some extrea sheet and place them on your sofa and over your comforer though. They are not shedless.

I also hope you plan on going on many many walks. If you have a park near by that is nice too. You could also get a tread mill..... happy.gif

We do not have a large yard so we take them on walks and we have a park about a mile away where we let them run. They also love water and swimming, you should have no trouble finding any of that where you live.

Hope you love it here as much as we do. Watch it though, I only had one lab till I came here. Then I caught MLS (multiple lab syndrome) Don't worry though, it just as easy to walk two dogs. rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the kind reply! As for swimming, Jack will jump into any body of water large enough to fit him. Pools, canals, jacuzzis, the ocean. Problem being that most places do not allow animals in their water fun and well jack cant read so by the time we get to him the damage is done. Ha ha.

Well wishes to the frozen tundras of michigan! I think im already learning here. ha ha.

Hello and a warm welcome, Kim

Lucky you, to have the prospect of a new black lab pup for Xmas!

And lucky you to have found this site - pure gold among such places, you won't regret it if you stay here and stay in touch.
I hope you have some great times ahead with your new lad, and I hope you're prepared for all the hard work that comes with the territory!

Have you a name sorted for him yet?

Wherever you are and whatever the circumstances, your black lab can bring great and lasting joy to your family. You can share pics, stories and anything else in this most friendly of sites, and if you need advice on training and behaviour, are mystified or despairing by destruction or mayhem - then there are good people here to give you advice and support.

(hope I'm not putting you off!!)

Kind regards,

Ian

Thankyou Ian for the warm welcome and the few words of advice, and don't worry you havn't put me off if anything you have made me feel more excited about him, i love a challange.

I have not thought of a normal name for him yet cos we going to leave up to my daughter to name him, it sort of a christmas present for her, but i do have a show name registered for him if we ever decide to show him. His show name is Jinlark.

I am so looking forward to bbringing hom home on christmas eve.

...Good for you!

Look around the gallery (if you haven't already done so) and you'll get a flavour of what's in store. Your new pup ******** will take his place with Toby, Griffin, Shadow and Shady, Ozzy, Lady Lola, Jackal and all our other tots!

My own Phoebe is 3 now, but her baby pics are still here!

Welcome Kim,

Ian did such a good job at welcoming you to the site I really do not know what to say. You will find that he has a way with words. We are always telling him he should write a book.

I was a new lab owner this last January when we got a 7 week old Sasha. I fell in love with the breed and found this site. Be for warned, it's very contagious, I came here and caught what is called MLS (multiple Lab Syndrome) So in August I pick up my 6 week old Toby (AKC: Tobias Alexander Seeha) No medical cure. rolleyes.gif Potty training twice in one year, yipes. ohmy.gif

Please feel free to tell us where you are from. I am from Kalamazoo Michigan USA. We have people here from all over the world and growing.

This is a great site and you will find allot of us here every day, we just love it, and our Labs

Hi again all sorry I have not put anything on here yet. I just wanted to say hi to all the new members. Also I am loving the new layout of the site.
