My black lab Buddy is 6 and this has happened 2 times with in the last month. A few weeks ago I came home and he ran up to me and he was yelping. He wouldnt turn his head to the right, only to the left. If I try and gently turn his head to the right he yelps or tries to keep me from turning it. I have massaged his neck and felt around his neck and head and he dosent yelp if I do that. When this happens it feels like he has a charlie horse in his neck because its stiff or he his just tensing up to keep me from turning his head. I cant feel anything in his neck area or head, what could be causing this. The second time this happened is when he came back inside from playing out side. What could be causing this? I cant pinpoint it because I never see what happens to cause him to not turn his head. He does this for about a day or two then it goes away and he is back to normal. At first i thought he just hurt him self by playing to hard with my other dog or he got bit by something. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything i can give him if its a joint problem? I feed him Natures Receipe Dog Food and hes been on that for the last year with no issues.

Don't think this is something that can be diagnosed via a forum, though it could possibly a muscular problem.
As Buddy is in obvious pain when he has this, he should get checked by the vet.

Let us all know what happens,
