Recently I heard of an Internet Puppy scam that originates in Nigeria and is making it's way across

the USA.

 Here is how it works,

The scammer creates a website that looks like it could be from a reputable breeder.

You contact the website and they tell you that you they have just the right pup for you.

You are instructed to send your money to a person in the USA and when payment is

received, your puppy will be shipped to you.

The money is sent to the person who you think is the breeder and then THEY forward

your money to Nigeria. You never receive your pup. And the person you sent your

  money to disappears.

How to prevent yourself from falling victim to this type of scam.

Use breeders within an hour or two of your home and go and select your pup in person.

If you insist on using an online breeder, ask them to send you a copy of the pup's parents

AKC certificate before you send your money.

Ask them for the info about who is going to ship the pup and what time the flight will land.

Then check to make sure that airline has a flight at that time.

One can not be too careful when it comes to Nigerians and online scammers these days.
